Lee Hi's '4 ONLY' is a captivating journey through the landscape of love, masterfully crafted by one of K-pop's most distinctive voices. Released in 2021 after a five-year album hiatus, this collection showcases Lee Hi's evolution as an artist, blending her signature husky tones with an eclectic mix of genres. From the synth-pop vibes of 'Intentions' to the Latin-tinged 'Waterride,' and the smooth jazz collaboration 'Savior' with B.I, the album is a testament to Lee Hi's willingness to push beyond her R&B roots.
The emotional depth of '4 ONLY' is palpable, with each track offering a unique perspective on love's many facets. The retro-flavored 'Red Lipstick,' featuring Yoon Mi-rae, and the introspective 'Safety Zone' demonstrate Lee Hi's ability to convey a spectrum of feelings through her refined vocals. While critical reception has been mixed, with praise for its cohesiveness and exploration of new sounds, the album's inclusion in several year-end lists affirms its impact on the K-pop landscape. '4 ONLY' not only marks a turning point in Lee Hi's career but also cements her position as a vocal powerhouse in the industry.- Sabrina
