Review

The first chord of “ME+YOU” feels like a decade’s worth of memories compressed into three minutes — a signal flare for TWICE’s tenth anniversary, announcing that this isn’t nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake, but a celebration of growth. On TEN: The Story Goes On, the group reminds us that their journey is ongoing: ten tracks, one lead single and nine solo songs, each member stepping into her own light yet anchored in unity.

Musically, the album retains the polished pop-slickness TWICE are known for, but it’s seasoned with individual flavor. The title track glides between R&B and pop, aiming for emotional resonance over sheer bombast. Solo cuts like “MEEEEEE (NAYEON)” flaunt bass-heavy party energy, while “STONE COLD (MINA)” surprises with dramatic elegance and subtle cinematic sweep. The members’ voices—once blended into a collective—now stand individually, giving each track a distinct identity while preserving the group’s bright cohesion.

Yet there are cracks in the facade. With nine solo tracks and effectively only one new group song, the album sometimes feels more like a mosaic of introverted moments than a unified statement. Some listeners find the transitions between styles jarring, while others argue the material lacks standout hooks compared to past albums. Still, as a gift to their fans and a marker of a decade together, TEN: The Story Goes On succeeds in reminding us why TWICE have stayed this long — and that their story, indeed, continues. - Ava
