Review
I'm obsessed with Shontelle's song "Impossible" - it's like the ultimate anthem of overcoming. I mean, who hasn't felt like they're picking up the pieces of their heart at some point? Shontelle's powerful vocals bring out all the emotions, and it's no wonder it shot up to number 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
So, when I dove into her second studio album "No Gravity," I was excited to see where she'd take things. And let me tell you, this album is all about transformation. Shontelle trades in her Caribbean roots for a more R&B-pop vibe, and while some critics have said it's not the most original sound, I think it's pretty cool that she's experimenting and trying new things. The production is slick and modern, thanks to big names like The-Dream and Darkchild.
Of course, opinions are mixed, and some folks think the subject matter is a bit vapid - I get that. But I genuinely think Shontelle has some awesome tracks up her sleeve, like "Perfect Nightmare," which transitions from this haunting piano melody to a full-on club party. And her slower songs, like "Say Hello to Goodbye," show off her vulnerable side. Sure, "No Gravity" might not be the most groundbreaking album out there, but it's got heart, and that's what counts for me. - Hayley
