Review

Let me tell you about 'Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats', a debut that shook the foundations of soul and rock back in 2015. This self-titled album is where Rateliff traded in his folk guitar for a full-blown brass section and a whole lot of swagger. It's like he took a time machine back to the golden age of Stax Records and brought that sound roaring into the present.

Now, when I say Rateliff's got pipes, I mean the man's voice could wake the dead and make them dance. Tracks like 'S.O.B.' and 'I Need Never Get Old' are pure fire, blending that old-school R&B with a modern edge that'll have you snappin' your fingers and stampin' your feet. And let's not forget 'Look It Here', a tune so smooth it could slide right into a 1960s jukebox without missing a beat.

Richard Swift's production on this record is the real deal, capturing that raw, live energy that makes you feel like you're right there in the room with the band. It's no wonder this album went Gold in the States and even Platinum in some parts of the world. Rateliff and his Night Sweats came out swinging with this one, proving that soul ain't dead - it just needed a little Colorado spirit to bring it back to life. - Diego
