Review
KATSEYE absolutely crashes through the gates with "Beautiful Chaos," slapping genre labels aside like they're playing jump rope in a windstorm. Released smack in the middle of 2025, this dazzling little EP takes every expectation and gleefully flips it over—imagine hyperpop cannonballing straight into Latin-infused dance-pop with all the swagger of a global pop collective unconcerned with coloring inside the lines. There's something delightfully feverish about a record that makes "celebrating confusion" its backbone; it’s a shout-along to letting creative impulses run wild in the most fabulous neon riot.
Dig into tracks like "Gnarly" and you're in for a frenetic spectacle that planted itself right onto the Billboard Hot 100, while "Gabriela" and "Gameboy" sprint their own wild laps around the pop cosmos. Forget monotonous filler—each song practically high-fives you with inventiveness, churning together percolating dance beats, glittering synths, and rhythms that tap-dance from Miami to Seoul without ever losing breath. The multinational group behind KATSEYE harnesses their eclectic backgrounds, hurling genre expectations overboard for a cocktail of sound that dares you not to move.
But wait, it isn’t just an auditory treat—KATSEYE went full-on collector paradise mode. If you swoon for tangible music magic, the EP beams out in CD and positively radioactive neon lime vinyl editions, packed with snazzy photo books and photocards that beg to be shown off. Somehow, in just 14 minutes, "Beautiful Chaos" throws confetti in the eyes of tradition and confirms KATSEYE's absolute right to their pop throne. If you like your music on the volcanic end of unpredictable, you’re about to have a new obsession. - Starla
Artist Bio
KATSEYE is a multinational girl group based in Los Angeles, formed in 2023 through the reality show Dream Academy, a joint project between HYBE Corporation and Geffen Records. The group consists of six members—Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae—each representing a different region, including the United States, Switzerland, the Philippines, and South Korea. Their music features modern pop with strong KPOP influences, and they made their debut in June 2024 with the single "Debut," followed by their EPs SIS (Soft Is Strong) and Beautiful Chaos. KATSEYE stands out as the first global girl group developed with KPOP training but with diverse, multinational members, and they gained notable recognition when their track "Gnarly" entered the Billboard Hot 100 in 2025. Fans of groups like XG, BLACKPINK, and (G)I-DLE may find KATSEYE’s sound and style appealing.
