Review

"Trip" by Jhené Aiko is a wild ride, let me tell you! Released in 2017, this 22-track album is like a musical acid trip - and I mean that in the best way possible. Aiko takes us on a journey through her experiences with love, loss, and a bit of psychedelia thrown in for good measure. It's not just about getting high though; she's dealing with some heavy stuff, like the death of her brother and her own battles with grief.

The music is a perfect blend of dreamy production and Aiko's soulful voice. Songs like "While We're Young" and "Sativa" are total earworms, but they've got depth too. Aiko's lyrics are raw and honest, making you feel like you're reading her diary. The critics were pretty into it, praising how she balanced the light and dark themes. It's a long album at 85 minutes, but it keeps you hooked.

Commercially, "Trip" did pretty well, hitting number five on the Billboard 200 and going gold. Aiko even made a short film to go with it and went on tour. It's clear she poured her heart and soul into this project, and it shows. If you're in the mood for some introspective, moody tunes with a dash of psychedelic flavor, "Trip" is definitely worth a listen. - Bianca
