Review

Wiz Khalifa's fifth studio album "Blacc Hollywood" dropped back in 2014 and it's like a delicious buffet - got a little bit of everything, but not all of it tastes that fresh. Wiz brings in a hefty squad of collab artists like Ty Dolla $ign, Juicy J, Curren$y, Nicki Minaj, and Snoop Dogg to spice up the tracks. But all these guest appearances don't really add up to a dope cohesive vibe or story. More like a random buffet of flavors.

Musically, it's trap-infused party anthems like "We Dem Boyz" and "KK" that'll get the club jumping. Wiz flexes those catchy flow skills. But then he dips into some more reflective shit with tracks like "House in the Hills." Producers like Dr. Luke and ID Labs bring a diverse beat palette, keeping shit from getting stale. Critics weren't totally sold though, throwing shade at the album's lack of substance and coherence. However, the commercial success can't be denied - topping Billboard charts and eventually going platinum. So it's an album that represents Wiz's commercial strengths, while exposing some of the cracks in his lyrical armor. A mixed bag of weed candy, if you will. - Rafe
