Artist Bio

Tina Turner, born in Tennessee and later a Swiss citizen, started her recording career in 1958 and rose to worldwide fame both with Ike Turner and as a solo artist. Known for her electrifying voice and genre-blending style spanning rock, soul, funk, disco, and pop, Turner’s landmark albums like *Private Dancer* helped make her one of the best-selling female artists of all time. She was celebrated with multiple Grammy Awards and was the first artist to score UK top 40 hits across seven consecutive decades. Besides her influence in music, her life story inspired a popular autobiography and the biographical film *What's Love Got to Do with It*. Similar artists include Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, and Janis Joplin.
