Review

The Story So Far’s “What You Don’t See” rips open with a punch—thirty minutes of tight, no-nonsense pop punk that doesn’t waste a second. The opener, “Things I Can’t Change,” sets the pace with razor-sharp drums and guitars that slice right through the noise. Parker Cannon’s vocals ride that chaotic energy like he’s got something urgent to exorcise, giving every word a jagged edge. It’s melodic chaos done right—aggressive yet clean enough to keep from collapsing under its own weight.

Tracks like “Stifled,” “All Wrong,” and “Face Value” show the band can tear into emotional turmoil without sounding whiny or overproduced. The frustration and longing feel raw, more like a confession than a script. What makes the whole record stick is how balanced it is—hardcore punch married to smart, melodic phrasing. “What You Don’t See” doesn’t pretend to reinvent pop punk, but it sure as hell reminds you why the genre hits so hard when done right. - Chase
