Review

When The Fray released their self-titled second album on February 3, 2009, it showcased a moment where their career took a fascinating turn. Stylized with their signature piano-driven rock and Isaac Slade delivering those rich vocals, the band seems to have stayed true to what made them stand out in the first place. While some may say it borders on somewhat predictable, there’s no denying the album captured ears. Peaking at incredible chart numbers, their easy-going melodies clearly found a welcoming audience, even if some critics raised a skeptical brow or two.

The lead single, "You Found Me," definitely found its way to the top, hitting number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and charming not just their home crowd, but also audiences down in Australia. Let's not forget "Never Say Never," a swoon-worthy tune that even snagged a Grammy nomination! With Aaron Johnson and Mike Flynn, the production duo behind their debut album, guiding the process in Denver, it’s safe to say that they knew exactly how to keep that Fray magic going. Despite all the chatter, the album proves the band isn't just spinning their musical wheels; they're connecting and resonating with many, perhaps leaving a gentle echo for others to chew over. - Bianca
