'Legion of Boom' kicks off with The Crystal Method's signature hard-hitting beats and a star-studded lineup of collaborators. This third studio album from the American electronic duo brings Milla Jovovich, John Garcia, and even Limp Bizkit's Wes Borland into the mix, creating a sonic cocktail that's equal parts intriguing and familiar.
The album's got its highs, no doubt. When it hits, it hits hard. But let's be real - there are moments where you might find yourself thinking, "Haven't I heard this before?" Some tracks fall into a trance-like repetition that's more likely to put you in a daze than get you moving on the dance floor. It's like they found a formula that worked and decided to stick with it, for better or worse.
Still, 'Legion of Boom' isn't without its surprises. Ken Jordan steps up to the mic for the first time, throwing some vocoder action on 'I Know It's You'. And hey, a Grammy nomination for Best Electronica/Dance Album isn't too shabby, right? While it might not be breaking new ground, this album proves The Crystal Method can still crank out some solid electronic jams, even if they're playing it a bit safe. - Chase
