Review

"Let It Be" is a fascinating piece of Beatles history, capturing a band on the brink of dissolution yet still capable of creating incredible music. Recorded primarily in January 1969, the album wasn't released until May 1970, after the group had already split. The sessions were pretty tense, with creative differences causing friction between the band members.

One of the most interesting aspects of "Let It Be" is Phil Spector's involvement. Brought in by John Lennon and George Harrison, Spector added his signature "Wall of Sound" production to several tracks. This didn't sit well with Paul McCartney, who wasn't a fan of the orchestral and choral arrangements added to songs like "The Long and Winding Road" and the title track.

Despite the drama surrounding its creation, "Let It Be" is packed with great tunes. From the soulful title track to the rousing "Get Back" and the beautiful "Across the Universe," it showcases the band's versatility and songwriting chops.
