Review
If you're lookin' for an album that's gonna take you on a wild ride of emotions, you might want to spin "Ruin" by The Amazing Devil. This duo, made up of Joey Batey and Madeleine Hyland, knows how to craft songs that are both heartbreakin' and uplifting, often at the same time. I'm reminded of some of the great country duos, like Johnny and June, who could convey a sense of longing and redemption through their music. The Amazing Devil's sound is a bit harder to pin down, but they've got a similar ability to tap into your emotions and take you on a journey.
The songs on "Ruin" are like stories, with characters and plot twists that keep you engaged. Tracks like "Secret Worlds" and "The Calling" have a big, anthemic quality to them, with choruses that stick in your head. The album's closer, "Inkpot Gods," is a real showstopper, with a sense of triumph and release that's hard to shake. Overall, "Ruin" is an album that's full of surprises, with a depth and complexity that makes it worth listenin' to again and again. It's a great example of what happens when two talented musicians come together and create somethin' special. - Rex
