Review
Holy shit, 'Eternal Blue' is a fucking monster of a debut! Spiritbox came out swinging with this beast, blending genres like a mad scientist in a metal lab. Courtney LaPlante's vocals are insane, switching from banshee screams to clean melodies that'll make your head spin. Mike Stringer's guitar work is a force to be reckoned with, creating atmospheric soundscapes that'll crush your skull and soothe your soul in the same track.
From the brutal assault of 'Holy Roller' to the emotional gut-punch of 'Constance', this album's got range for days. And let's not forget the collab with Sam Carter on 'Yellowjacket' - that track's a straight-up banger! The band even throws in some new wave influences, giving nods to legends like Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears.
Lyrically, LaPlante doesn't pull any punches, diving deep into personal shit and fears about their rising fame. The production is top-notch, giving each track the punch it deserves. No wonder this thing debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 22,000 units in its first week. Loudwire named it Album of the Year for 2021, and I can see why. Spiritbox has set the bar fucking high with 'Eternal Blue', and I can't wait to see what they do next! - Ben
