Review

When "Badmotorfinger" dropped in 1991, it blasted Soundgarden to new heights and cemented their place in the grunge pantheon. With the beefy basslines of newcomer Ben Shepherd, the band injected fresh muscle into their already gnarly sound. Tracks like the sonic sledgehammer "Outshined" and the dizzying "Jesus Christ Pose" showcased the band's unique fusion of heavy metal, alt-rock, and grunge.

But "Badmotorfinger" wasn't just about the riffs - it packed a lyrical punch too. Vocalist Chris Cornell's introspective verses grappled with personal demons, societal ills, and existential quandaries. The production, too, was a game-changer, with unconventional techniques and tunings that left listeners' heads spinning. It may have been overshadowed by other '90s powerhouses at the time, but "Badmotorfinger" has since earned its rightful status as a grunge masterpiece, a testament to Soundgarden's unrelenting musical vision and raw, unfiltered artistry. - Zane
