Review

Snoop Dogg's "R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece" from way back in 2004, signifies a pivotal moment in our boy Snoop's musical journey. Busting out with beats from legends like The Neptunes, Hi-Tek, and Lil Jon, this album is proof that Snoop knows how to pick 'em. Seriously, how catchy is "Drop It Like It's Hot"? That track's minimalist production is synonymous with hypnotic vibes. The Neptunes really outdid themselves with those spare but earworm-worthy grooves.

Of course, what’s a Snoop album without a clutch of star-studded features? With heavyweights like Pharrell, Justin Timberlake, and Nelly all throwing down, there’s no shortage of dynamic flavor. "Signs" and "Ups & Downs" give you that perfect taste of Snoop's versatile crewplay. Though it got some shade for being a bit on the long side, and for some tired themes, it's a snazzy package overall. Whether you're bumping “Da Bidness” or catching those Bee Gees samples, this album still slides into the hip-hop scene like butter on hot toast. - Asher
