With "Even In Arcadia," Sleep Token have whipped up a musical storm that crackles with electric energy and plenty of thunderous surprises. The opener, “Look To Windward,” unfurls like a majestic storm front—a haunting brew of intimate synths and surging power that pulls you straight into their tempest. Throughout the album, each song unleashes a different element, from the volcanic heaviness of “Emergence” to the swirling emotional winds of “Gethsemane” and the sweeping, cinematic tide of the title track. It’s a collision of wrath and restraint, each track swelling and breaking like waves on the shore.
This record elevates their sound into new, uncharted air currents. With Carl Bown at the production helm and RCA Records behind the release, Sleep Token lean hard into both the mystical and the melodic, conjuring an otherworldly atmosphere that’s impossible to resist. Their distinctive blend of heavy rock punch, shimmering melodies, and electrifying vocals remains undiminished, but here it’s layered and textured more than ever—shadow and light locked in a celestial dance.
The path leading up to "Even In Arcadia" was marked by enigmatic clouds of anticipation, thanks to a cryptic marketing blitz that included cryptographic website puzzles, Twitter riddles, and, just for good measure, a mischievous weatherman dropping meteorological hints about release dates. This sense of mystery amplified the album’s arrival and matched the emotional squall found in their music. With this release, Sleep Token surge further ahead, weaving spectacular storms of sound and cementing their place among modern hard rock’s most captivating and dynamic acts. - Juno
