Review
Shakira's 'Oral Fixation, Vol. 2' is a wild ride that'll have you grooving and feeling all the feels! Released in 2005, this album is like a musical buffet - you've got rock, pop, bossa nova, and even a dash of neo-disco. It's the English-language follow-up to her Spanish album from earlier that year, and let me tell you, it doesn't disappoint!
I'm totally obsessed with how Shakira mixes things up on this record. 'Animal City' is this crazy cool blend of mariachi horns and surf guitars that just makes me want to dance. And then she hits you with 'Something,' which has these beautiful bossa nova vibes that make you want to sway in a moonlit garden. The range on this woman, I swear!
But it's not all upbeat stuff - Shakira knows how to tug at your heartstrings too. 'Your Embrace' is this gorgeous ballad with gypsy-caravan violin that just melts me every time. And can we talk about the artwork? Shakira designed it herself, drawing inspiration from Eve and Freud's theories. It's like she's not content with just being an incredible musician - she's got to be a visual artist too! This album really showcases why Shakira is such a force in the music world. - Ava
