Review

My grandmother used to say that the best stories are the ones that blend tradition with a little bit of rebellion, and that's exactly what Shaboozey's "Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die" does. This album is a real treat, with its unique mix of hip-hop, country, trap, and Americana sounds. I'd say it's like sippin' sweet tea on the front porch - it's refreshing and it grows on you. Shaboozey's Virginia roots shine through in his music, and you can tell he's drawin' from the same well as legends like Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. His ability to spin a yarn is impressive, and I think that's part of what makes this album so darn charmin'.

The songs on "Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die" are like a big ol' basket full of different flavors - you got your foot-stompin' anthems like "Rodeo World Champion" and your slower, sadder tunes like "My Love". And let's not forget "The Ballad of Belt Buckle Bill", which is just about the most interestin' character study I've heard in a long time. Overall, I'd give this album a rating of "Southern sweet tea" - it's a mighty fine blend that'll keep you comin' back for more. If you're lookin' for somethin' that'll push the boundaries of what you think country and hip-hop can do, then "Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die" is the album for you. - Brandie
