Review
Well, well, well, look who decided to strut back onto the rock scene with a vengeance! Queen's 'The Works' is like that friend who disappears for a while and then shows up at your door with a six-pack and a killer playlist. After their little synth-pop fling with 'Hot Space', the boys remembered they had guitars and decided to use them again. Thank goodness for that!
Let's talk about 'Radio Ga Ga' for a hot second. Roger Taylor apparently got inspired by his kid's babbling - I mean, who knew toddler talk could lead to such a banger? It's like they took a Vocoder, threw it in a blender with some rock, and hit puree. And don't even get me started on 'Hammer to Fall'. Brian May must've been eating his Wheaties when he wrote that riff because it hits harder than your mom's disapproving stare when you tell her you're quitting your job to become a professional juggler.
Now, 'I Want to Break Free' is the cherry on top of this rock sundae. Not only is it catchier than the flu in flu season, but the video? Pure gold. Freddie Mercury in a miniskirt and vacuum cleaner is something I didn't know I needed in my life until I saw it. It's like they said, "Hey, let's make a killer song AND give the world a laugh while we're at it." That's multitasking at its finest, folks. No wonder this album shot up the charts faster than a cat up a tree. Queen wasn't just making music; they were having a blast and inviting us all to the party. - Chloe
