Review

The circus-inspired 'Wonders of the Younger' is such a vibe shift for Plain White T's after their massive 'Hey There Delilah' era! Frontman Tom Higgenson took the band in a totally different direction with this 2010 release, serving up quirky storytelling alongside their signature pop-rock sound. 'Rhythm of Love' is an absolute earworm with Tim Lopez on lead vocals instead of Higgenson (plot twist!), while tracks like 'Boomerang' and 'Irrational Anthem' bring all the upbeat energy you'd expect from the Chicago band.

What's living rent-free in my head is how the album balances faster cuts like 'Killer' with more chill moments in 'Broken Record' and 'Map of the World.' The title track hits different, wrapping up the album with this nostalgic, reflective energy that makes you want to text your childhood bestie. The band really said "let's experiment" with this one, and while it didn't chart like their previous work, it showed they weren't just one-hit wonders riding the 'Hey There Delilah' wave forever. A true main character moment for a band willing to evolve! - Piper
