Review

"ÉXODO," Peso Pluma's fourth studio album, is a bold and ambitious project that really shows how much the Mexican singer has grown. Dropped on June 20, 2024, through his own label, Double P Records, it’s a double album with 24 tracks that mix regional Mexican sounds with hip-hop, Latin trap, and reggaeton vibes. The first disc feels like home with its traditional regional Mexican music, featuring instruments like the tenor horn, requinto guitar, and tololoche. Peso Pluma sticks to his roots while also playing around with new themes and styles.

The second disc is where things get spicy, jumping into contemporary genres with big names like Cardi B, Quavo, Anitta, and Rich the Kid. These collaborations add serious depth and show just how flexible Peso Pluma can be. The themes are all over the place, from tough narcocorridos to the glitzy life of a pop star. Songs like "Bruce Wayne" and "Reloj" really spotlight his vulnerability and musical chops, blending corridos with modern influences. The title "ÉXODO" hints at a big shift from his old stuff, showing his hunger to evolve. While some collabs might feel a bit more about reaching for the stars than being groundbreaking, this album is a rich mix of styles and proves Peso Pluma's chops as a multi-genre artist. Overall, "ÉXODO" celebrates the regional Mexican music movement's success and solidifies Peso Pluma's versatility and long-term game in the industry. - Sofia
