Review

'God's Son' dropped when Nas was coming to terms with losing his mom, and it shows in every verse. The 2002 album hits different because it feels like we're right there with him through the grief and healing. When I listen to 'Made You Look' I get hyped on that raw energy, but then 'Dance' comes on and I'm feeling all the emotions. Nas wasn't playing around - he mixed that classic New York sound with these really soulful beats that just work.

What makes this album stand out is how Nas keeps it real about his life while dropping some serious wisdom. On 'I Can' he's literally teaching the youth, while 'Last Real N***a Alive' gives us the tea on his beef with Jay-Z without making it the whole focus. The production from Salaam Remi, Eminem, and The Alchemist creates this perfect backdrop for Nas to tell his story. This is the kind of album that reminds you why Nas has lasted so long in the game - dude knows how to make music that matters. - Kaitlyn
