Lykke Li – ƎYƎYƎ

Review

Milly here, and I'm utterly fascinated by Lykke Li's "ƎYƎYƎ", a radical reworking of her previous album "EYEYE", which has been transformed into a hauntingly otherworldly entity, courtesy of a reverse-engineering process masterminded by Warren Brown. The resulting sound is delicate yet impactful, transporting listeners to a realm where time and emotions are heightened, rather like being swept up in a surrealist dream sequence. Accompanied by the re-release of her audio-visual "EYEYE ODYSSƎY", directed by Theo Lindquist, the visual components add a sumptuous dimension to the album, evoking the grandeur of a European arthouse film in a condensed, modern format. With "ƎYƎYƎ", Lykke Li cements her reputation as a visionary, pushing the boundaries of what's expected from her work, and the album's experimental nature and integration of visual elements make for a unique and captivating experience. In short, "ƎYƎYƎ" is a bracingly innovative work that showcases Lykke Li's artistic depth and willingness to take risks.- Milly
