Review

"Strange Trails" by Lord Huron really hooked me from the get-go when it dropped in 2015. This album takes you on a mystical journey combining indie rock with a touch of folk, and even sneaks in the cool vibe of rockabilly. It's more than just music; it's a collection of evocative stories woven together, exploring the highs and lows of love, the shadows of loss, and the meandering paths of life itself.

Each track on this album unfolds like a chapter in a hauntingly beautiful novel. Starting with "Love Like Ghosts," the vibe is set right - it's spooky, emotional, and completely enveloping. Then you have killer tracks like "Meet Me in the Woods" and "The Night We Met," which not only pull at your heartstrings but have also gained quite a bit of acclaim for their heartfelt lyrics and compelling melodies. The whole album is tied together with lush, reverb-heavy soundscapes that just transport you to another place. If you're into music that tells a story and sets a mood, "Strange Trails" should definitely be on your radar. - Ethan

Artist Bio

Lord Huron is an indie rock band based in Los Angeles, founded by Ben Schneider around 2010, known for their mix of folk, rock, country, and cinematic soundscapes. Their debut, *Lonesome Dreams*, arrived in 2012, and they've since put out several albums, including *Strange Trails* and *Vide Noir*, with their music often drawing comparisons to the likes of Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, and Neil Young. The group's single "The Night We Met" gained widespread attention and platinum status after being featured in Netflix’s *13 Reasons Why*, and they've occasionally collaborated with artists such as Phoebe Bridgers. The core lineup features Schneider alongside Mark Barry, Miguel Briseño, and Tom Renaud, with all members contributing to the distinct, atmospheric storytelling central to their style. In addition to critical and commercial success, Lord Huron’s evolving discography continues to explore new directions, most recently with the 2025 project *The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1*.
