Review

'Texas Sun' es una joya that shimmers with the warmth of a Lone Star State sunset. This collaboration between Khruangbin and Leon Bridges is like a slow dance under the stars, where psychedelic surf-rock twirls with soulful R&B.

The title track 'Texas Sun' paints a picture of endless highways and freedom, Bridges' velvet voice floating over Khruangbin's dreamy instrumentation like a mirage on the horizon. It's a song that makes you want to hit the road with the windows down, letting the breeze tangle your hair.

From the hypnotic grooves of 'Midnight' to the sultry sway of 'C-Side', each track is a perfect blend of retro and contemporary. The extended jam of 'Conversion' is particularly enthralling, showcasing the musical chemistry between these Texan artists. This EP is a beautiful reminder of how music can transport us, even when we're standing still. It's an auditory road trip that leaves you feeling sun-kissed and serene. - Lucia

Artist Bio

Khruangbin is a trio from Houston, Texas, made up of Laura Lee Ochoa, Mark Speer, and Donald Ray "DJ" Johnson Jr., known for blending global sounds like 1960s Thai funk, Middle Eastern grooves, and dub with funk, soul, and alternative rock. They started releasing music in the mid-2010s, with their first album, The Universe Smiles Upon You, coming out in 2015 and gaining attention for its distinctive international vibe. The band has expanded their sound through collaborations with Leon Bridges and by incorporating more vocals in their 2020 album, Mordechai.
