Y'all come on over and sit a spell, because I've got the perfect soundtrack as we soak up the Southern sunshine—Jon Pardi's fourth album, "Mr. Saturday Night", released in 2022. This delightful collection of 14 tracks is a fine example of neotraditional country that'll have you both tapping your toes and wiping a tear or two.
The title track, "Mr. Saturday Night," starts us off with a burst of weekend energy, casting light on the mix of joy and heartache that comes with those late hours. It feels both lively and reflective, setting a tone that resonates through the rest of the album like fireflies dancing in the dark.
Songs like "Fill 'Er Up," "Last Night Lonely," and "Neon Light Speed" are catchy ditties that'll stick in your head like sweet summer memories. Not to mention the collaboration with Midland on "Longneck Way to Go," which adds a bit of depth that's as refreshing as a tall glass of iced tea on a hot day.
Pardi certainly stretches his musical legs, from the relaxed vibe of "New Place to Drink" and "Santa Cruz," soaked in California sunshine, to the more intimate echoes of "Your Heart or Mine" and "Raincheck." His voice, rich and clear, piles on the emotion like a tasty heap of Southern comfort food—satisfying and soulfully deep.
Alongside Bart Butler and Ryan Gore, Pardi crafts a cohesive album that's sure to find a home in any true country fan's heart. "Mr. Saturday Night" is a shining star in Jon Pardi's discography, securing his place as a cherished voice in neotraditional country. - Savannah
