Review

JoJo dropped her debut album, "JoJo," when she was just 13, and I still can’t get over how strong her voice was right out the gate. She took on upbeat pop bangers like "Leave (Get Out)" alongside smooth R&B jams, mixing youthful confidence with this insane amount of control and maturity. It’s wild how she could jump from soulful covers like "Weak" to bold tracks like "Not That Kinda Girl," making each one totally her own.

Every track pulses with those unmistakable early-2000s beats and synths—you definitely hear the era—and, yeah, it runs the risk of feeling a bit dated. But the production still pops, and her gritty tone cuts right through it. Even playful ones like "Homeboy" have a sassy edge. For me, "JoJo" is just solid proof that a real talent can light up songs way beyond her years. - Preston
