Review

'Songs For The Canyon' by John Vincent III is like a peaceful hike through the Cascades - it's got ups and downs, but damn if it isn't beautiful the whole way through. This 2023 release builds on the foundation laid by his first album, 'Songs From The Valley', but it's clear Vincent's been hitting the musical gym.

The dude's got a knack for blending indie pop and folk-rock vibes, creating tunes that feel as cozy as a campfire on a crisp night. Tracks like 'Highway Woman' and 'Juniper And Yellow' are perfect for those introspective moments when you're staring out at a misty lake, while 'Dandelion' and 'That's Just The Way It Is, Babe' have a 70s Laurel Canyon feel that'll make you want to throw on some hiking boots and hit the trails.

Vincent teamed up with some heavy-hitter producers for this one, and you can hear the polish in every note. But don't worry, it still feels as authentic as a hand-carved walking stick. The album's got a nice mix of stripped-down acoustic tracks and more experimental stuff with reverb-soaked soundscapes. It's like the musical equivalent of a forest - diverse, complex, and pretty damn awe-inspiring. Best enjoyed while watching the sunset from a mountaintop, if you ask me. - Oakley
