Review

Jason Derulo’s "Future History" feels like walking straight into a neon-lit party you weren’t planning on leaving anytime soon. Released in 2011, it shows off his smooth R&B tone but dresses it up with lots of glossy, dance-pop sparkle. Singles like "Don’t Wanna Go Home" and "It Girl" are instantly addictive—they’ve got that bounce and charm that make you want to sing along before you even realize it. The fact that Derulo handled executive production himself while teaming with big names like RedOne and J.R. Rotem just makes the whole project sound extra polished.

What stood out to me is how much he leaned into radio-ready hooks and club beats while still keeping his voice front and center. It might not have the rawness of his debut, but it doubled down on his pop star status and gave fans plenty of dance floor fuel. Even when the tracks feel a little calculated, there’s an undeniable fun energy pulsing through them. "Future History" ends up being one of those albums that makes sense when you just want something upbeat, glittery, and completely unapologetic in its catchiness. - Ava
