Review

"In Waves" by Jamie xx is a stellar return to form that's been worth the nine-year wait since his debut. This album is a wild ride through different musical landscapes, with Jamie teaming up with a bunch of talented artists like Romy and Oliver Sim from The xx, Honey Dijon, and even Robyn! It's like a who's who of cool collaborators, and each one brings something special to the table.

Jamie's really switched things up this time, moving away from his indie-house roots and diving into more experimental waters. There are still some bangers that'll get you moving, like "Baddy on the Floor" and "Treat Each Other Right," but he's also not afraid to get a bit weird with tracks like "Breather" and "The Feeling I Get From You." It's this mix of dance-floor ready tunes and more out-there stuff that makes the album so engaging.

The production on "In Waves" is next level, with Jamie putting his own spin on how he uses features - it's almost like he's sampling his collaborators. And speaking of sampling, tracks like "Wanna" and "Still Summer" show off his skills in that department too. It's clear that the four years he spent working on this album were well spent, resulting in a polished and creative record that's been getting rave reviews. I can't wait to hear these tracks live - his residency at Venue MOT in London must have been incredible! - Ava
