Review

Illenium's third studio album, "Ascend," dropped on August 16, 2019, marking a huge step for him as it’s his big debut with Astralwerks. With 17 tracks, this album showcases his mad skills in blending bass, dance, and pop vibes. You'll recognize some of the bangers like "Take You Down,” "Crashing,” "Pray,” "Good Things Fall Apart,” "Takeaway,” and "Blood" which had been teased before.

What's really cool about "Ascend" is its polished production, letting the melodies and vocal features really steal the show. With guest stars like The Chainsmokers, Lennon Stella, and X Ambassadors, the album brings a rich mix of sounds. Whether it's "Crashing" with Bahari, "Sad Songs" with Annika Wells, or "Every Piece of Me" with Echos, Illenium shows he knows how to hit you right in the feels. The themes of heartache and personal growth beautifully intertwine, promising new beginnings in the end. "Ascend" is a clear sign of Illenium leveling up as a producer, making an album that hits all the right notes for a diverse audience. - Melody
