Review

By the time Lethal Injection dropped, Ice Cube had already cemented himself as one of rap’s sharpest voices — but here, he leaned into a darker, funk-soaked sound that split fans and critics alike. It’s an album heavy with West Coast swagger, dripping in G-funk synths and low-end bass, but still sharp enough to cut.

Tracks like “Really Doe” and “You Know How We Do It” ooze confidence, cruising through smooth beats while Cube spits with that trademark bite. Yet, underneath the groove, there’s tension — a mix of social commentary and street pragmatism that shows Cube’s pen hadn’t dulled, just evolved. He’s less the firebrand revolutionary of Death Certificate and more the calculating observer, still dangerous but slower to burn.

It’s a record that marks a turning point — not Cube’s loudest roar, but one of his most stylish. Lethal Injection proves you can lower the volume without losing the venom. - Justin
