Review
"Paint My Bedroom Black" by Holly Humberstone is a total mood, y'all! This debut album is like a mix tape of all the feels, straight from Holly's heart. It's got that sweet 90s vibe with a modern twist, reminding me of jamming to Alanis Morissette in my bedroom. Holly's not afraid to get real, spilling her guts about crushes, bestie drama, and those moments when you just wanna hide under the covers. 'Antichrist' and 'Ghost Me' hit you with all the angst and regrets, making you wanna call your high school sweetheart and apologize for... everything.
But don't think it's all doom and gloom! Holly's got some serious range, mixing up her sound like a DJ at an awesome house party. 'Kissing in Swimming Pools' is giving me total summer romance nostalgia, while 'Flatlining' has me ready to hit the dance floor with its electro-pop beats. And can we talk about 'Room Service'? It's like, totally about missing your squad while you're living that rock star life on tour. Holly's basically living a double life, and this album is her way of dealing with all that craziness. It's like she's saying, "Sometimes I wanna paint my bedroom black and hide from the world, but other times I'm all about connecting with my peeps." Totally relatable, right? - Brooke
