Review
Back when I first cranked up Hinder's third album, "All American Nightmare," I knew the band was tapping into something new and wicked. Released on December 7, 2010, this album sees the guys delve into a heavier, darker vibe compared to their previous jams. Think about cruising in a muscle car on a stormy night––that's the kind of shift we're talking about here. The mastermind producer, Kevin Churko, had them splitting recording duties, with music hammered out in drummer Cody Hanson's personal studio while Austin Winkler's vocals echoed through the Vegas airwaves. That's a rock 'n' roll travel diary if I've ever heard one!
This collection isn't afraid to mix things up. You've got the high-octane roar of the title track "All American Nightmare" ripping through the speakers while "Waking Up the Devil" keeps the pedal to the metal. Then, just when you think you've got the pulse, "Hey Ho" slides in with a pop-laden groove and "What Ya Gonna Do" pulls at those heartstrings with balladic finesse. Love it or leave it, folks couldn't help but talk, and that's just what Hinder wanted. The critics were torn, dipping between praise and the past, but let's be real – this album boldly wears its colors of Southern rock and hard-hitting modern vibes, proving once again, Hinder's all about shaking things up. - Scarlett
