Review
'Little Queen' by Heart is a straight-up rock masterpiece, no two ways about it. This bad boy dropped in '77 and showed everyone what these Seattle rockers were made of. The standout track 'Barracuda' is a monster, with a guitar riff that'll knock your socks off and Ann Wilson's vocals that could shatter glass. It's the kind of song that makes you want to crank the volume to 11 and air guitar till your arms fall off.
But don't think this album is a one-trick pony. The Wilson sisters and crew mix it up with some funky vibes on the title track and even throw in a dash of reggae on 'Say Hello'. And when they slow it down on 'Treat Me Well' with Nancy taking the lead, it's enough to make a grown man cry (not that I did, mind you).
This record wasn't just a hit, it was a triple platinum smash. Heart had three albums charting at the same time, which is pretty damn impressive. 'Little Queen' proved these rockers could overcome label drama and still deliver the goods. It's the kind of album that reminds you why rock and roll will never die. - Jaxx
