Review

Gunna's fifth studio effort, "One of Wun," dropped on May 10, 2024, courtesy of YSL Records and 300 Entertainment, and it's pure Gunna vibes. The album flexes with guest spots from heavy hitters like Offset, Normani, Leon Bridges, and Roddy Ricch. Production’s top-notch, boasting names like Turbo, Teddy Walton, and Larrance Dopson on the boards. With 20 tracks packed with Gunna's trademark melodic flow and trap beats, it’s a cohesive work, though it sometimes rides the edge of being a bit too predictable and repetitive.

Still, Gunna gives us glimpses of his soul with tracks like "Life’s Changing," "Conscience," and "Today I Did Good," touching on themes of self-care and growth, reflecting on his public highs and lows. These slower, more introspective cuts bring a breath of fresh air to the album. Commercially, the album crushed it, landing at number two on the Billboard 200 with 91,000 units. Though reviews are mixed—Clash gives it a solid 7/10, while Pitchfork leans more critical at 5.7/10—"One of Wun" confirms Gunna’s place in the game, and hints there's more depth he might explore moving forward. - Jayden
