Review
Guitarricadelafuente really went all out on "Spanish Leather," mixing indie folk with rumba and flamenco in ways that shouldn't work but absolutely do. The guy bounces between moods like he's channel-surfing through emotions - one minute you've got the high-energy rush of "BABIECA!" and "Futuros amantes," the next you're deep in the contemplative waters of "Pipe dream" and "Tramuntana." Songs like "Full time papi" and "Puerta del Sol" throw Latin pop and rock into the mix, while tracks such as "Mataleón" and "Quién teme a la máquina?" show off his ability to balance traditional Spanish sounds with slick modern production.
What makes this album stick is how Guitarricadelafuente tells stories through all this musical wandering. "Los chicos del club" hits you with pure nostalgia, while "Port Pelegrí" creates these emotionally rich moments that feel both intimate and expansive. By the time you reach the closing one-two punch of "Sonata nº 9 de los heavies de Gran Vía" and "Tramuntana," it's clear this isn't just someone showing off their musical range - though he's definitely got plenty to show. It's a guy who understands that the best albums take you on a journey, and "Spanish Leather" delivers exactly that kind of ride. - Bianca
