Review

'Fortitude' by Gojira is a real powerhouse of an album. Released in 2021, it's the seventh studio offering from these French metal maestros, and boy does it pack a punch! The band's signature heavy sound is still there in spades, but they've thrown in some classic rock vibes and killer guitar solos that really take things up a notch.

What I love about this record is how it manages to be both technically impressive and catchy as hell. Take 'Born For One Thing' - it starts off with this brutal, djent-inspired riff before smoothly transitioning into a chorus with clean vocals that'll have you singing along in no time. And don't even get me started on 'Amazonia' - the throat singing and jaw harp create this unique groove that's just irresistible.

But 'Fortitude' isn't just about the music - the lyrics pack a serious punch too. The band's tackling some heavy topics like environmental activism and social issues, but there's an underlying sense of optimism that's really refreshing. It's like they're saying, "Yeah, things are tough, but we've got the power to change them." That positive energy really shines through in tracks like 'The Chant' and 'Hold On'. It's no wonder this album's been getting so much love from fans and critics alike! - Raegan
