Review

Gabby Barrett's 'Chapter & Verse' is a beautiful tapestry of faith, family, and personal growth. As I listened to this sophomore album, I felt like I was leafing through the pages of her life, each song a carefully penned entry in her musical diary. The title alone, inspired by her faith, sets the tone for a deeply introspective journey.

I was particularly moved by 'Growin' Up Raising You', co-written by Luke Combs. As a mother myself, this song struck a chord deep within me, capturing the bittersweet dance of watching our children grow while we ourselves are still figuring out this whole parenting gig. And speaking of Luke Combs, his background vocals on 'Dance Like No One's Watching' add a lovely depth to an already heartwarming track.

Barrett's songwriting prowess shines throughout the album, with nine of the fourteen tracks bearing her creative fingerprints. The collaboration with Miranda Lambert on 'You're My Texas' is a standout, painting a vivid picture of love that feels as vast and enduring as the Lone Star State itself. From the soul-stirring 'Jesus on a Train' to the catchy 'Glory Days', each song feels like a chapter in Barrett's life story, inviting listeners to connect with her experiences on a profoundly personal level. - Raine
