Review

Future’s self-titled album "FUTURE," released on February 17, 2017, sits as a serious highlight in his career. Dropping with the precision of a perfectly timed subway, this fifth studio effort solidified his role as the trap kingpin we know. A perfect blend of catchy hooks and his signature melodic swagger, the album brings together production maestros like Metro Boomin and Zaytoven to mold a richly textured sonic adventure.

If tracks were moments on a night out, "Mask Off" is that high-energy peak soaring to number five on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Draco," that wild, unexpected time hitting number 46. "Used to This" with Drake brings that familiar companion feel to your wild journey, while "Extra Luv" with YG sprinkles an extra dash of dynamism. The album’s cover, styled by none other than Japanese maestro Takashi Murakami, captures the untouched carefree energy that Future oozes.

Now, despite some mixed reviews—some folks digging its sprawling ambition, others saying it’s Future stuck on replay—it didn’t cloud its success. "FUTURE" launched at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 and picked up that illustrious Platinum certification from the RIAA. In essence, this album proves Future's got the juice to pump out mainstream anthems while staying true to his gritty, unique sound. Love it or feel mixed about it, you can't deny it's a powerful piece reflecting his growth and hustle. - Sable
