Free Cake for Every Creature was the indie pop and lo-fi project of Katie Bennett, who started making music under this name in 2013 while in Saratoga Springs, New York. Originally solo and later expanding into a collaborative band based out of Philadelphia, the project released several albums on the Double Double Whammy label before ending in 2019. Notably, their 2016 album *Talking Quietly of Anything With You* earned critical recognition from Rolling Stone’s Rob Sheffield and NPR’s Bob Boilen. Free Cake for Every Creature’s sound fits well alongside artists like Frankie Cosmos, Florist, and Mitski. After six years and multiple releases, Katie Bennett brought the project to a close, wrapping up a distinct chapter in indie pop.
