Review

Alfredo 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the 2020 Alfredo, and it largely justifies the anticipation. Released on July 25, 2025, it reunites Gibbs and Alchemist in that familiar zone of gritty lyricism and cinematic production, but with a deeper emotional range and bolder textures.

From the opening “1995” onward, Gibbs is in full command — swagger, sharp wordplay, shifting cadences — while The Alchemist frames him with atmospheric loops, subtle guitar swells, jazz touches, and ambient space. Tracks like “Lemon Pepper Steppers” show off Gibbs’ mastery of pacing and flow, while “Ensalada” (featuring Anderson .Paak) and “Gold Feet” (featuring JID) expand the album’s horizons without diluting its core.

What prevents Alfredo 2 from being untouchable is its occasional overfamiliarity. A few songs slip into autopilot, and some of the flow or subject matter feels recycled. Still, the highs hit hard enough to carry the weight. Gibbs balances bravado with weariness; Alchemist pushes his palette without losing the moody chemistry that made Alfredo resonate. - Joey
