Review
Well, butter my biscuit if "Humble Folks" by Flatland Cavalry ain't sweeter than my Aunt Mabel's peach cobbler! This 2016 album is like a warm Southern breeze, carrying stories that'll make you feel right at home.
Now, I remember sittin' on my granddaddy's porch, listenin' to him spin yarns about small-town life. That's exactly what Flatland Cavalry does with 'Coyote (The Ballad of Roy Johnson)'. It's a tale so rich, you can almost taste the dust kickin' up on a Texas back road. And let me tell you, songs like 'A Good Memory' and 'February Snow' are as comforting as a worn-in pair of boots - they might make you a little misty-eyed, but in the best way possible.
This album's got more flavors than a potluck dinner. 'Tall City Blues' and 'Stompin' Grounds' will get your toes tappin' faster than a jackrabbit on a hot griddle. But it's not all hootenanny - 'Devil Off My Back' and 'Goodbye Kiss' show these boys can serve up some real soul-stirring tunes too. With 11 tracks that'll take you on a journey through the heart of Texas, 'Humble Folks' is as satisfying as a tall glass of sweet tea on a scorching summer day. - Brandie
