Review

Marshall Mathers really came out swinging in 2018 with 'Kamikaze,' dropping it as a surprise counter-punch to all the hate 'Revival' got. This album is him basically saying "I still got it" - bringing back that classic Em anger we hadn't seen in a minute. The tracks with Joyner Lucas, Royce, and Jessie Reyez add some nice flavor, but let's be real, this is the Marshall show through and through. He even jumped behind the boards to produce some of this himself, showing he's not just about the lyrics.

What makes 'Kamikaze' hit different is how Em just straight up goes after everyone who crossed him. On 'The Ringer' and 'Not Alike,' he's firing shots left and right at critics and rappers who talked trash. The way he flips between serious venom and that dark humor on tracks like 'Nice Guy' is vintage Slim Shady. While music critics were split on whether Em was keeping up with where hip-hop was headed, the fans spoke with their wallets - this joint topped charts everywhere and ended up being the biggest hip-hop album of 2018. Say what you want about Em, but the man still knows how to get people talking. - Asher
