Review

'Sunbather' by Deafheaven is a real game-changer in the metal world. I'm not usually big on metal, but this album totally blew me away with its unique blend of genres. It's like they took black metal and gave it a dreamy makeover with some shoegaze and post-rock vibes. The result is this incredibly emotional and powerful sound that's hard to put into words.

What really struck me about 'Sunbather' is how it flows. The longer tracks are intense and gripping, but then you get these little breather moments with the shorter interludes. 'Irresistible' and 'Windows' are like little oases of calm in the storm. And let's talk about the lyrics - they're not your typical doom and gloom metal fare. Instead, they dive into some really personal and introspective themes that hit you right in the feels.

The production on this album is top-notch, too. Everything sounds so crisp and powerful, it's like you can feel the energy of the band coming through your speakers. George Clarke's screaming is intense but oddly beautiful, and Kerry McCoy's guitar work is just mind-blowing. No wonder critics went nuts for this album - it's a fresh take on metal that pushes boundaries and creates something truly special. 'Sunbather' is definitely one of those albums that'll stick with you long after you've finished listening. - Sienna
