Review
"Clan of Xymox" is an absolute treasure trove of dark wave and goth goodness! Released in 1985, this self-titled debut album from the Dutch masters is a moody masterpiece that perfectly captures the brooding essence of the '80s goth scene. With Ivo Watts-Russell at the production helm, the band crafted a sound that's both chilling and captivating. The icy keyboards, gloomy guitars, and robotic percussion create an atmosphere that's pure magic to my ears. I'm particularly fond of tracks like "A Day" and "Stranger," which got the John Fryer remix treatment, adding an extra layer of danceability to their already hypnotic sound. The emotional intensity in songs like "Cry in the Wind" and "No Human Can Drown" is palpable, showcasing the incredible vocal talents of Anka Wolbert and Ronny Moorings. It's no wonder this album received such glowing reviews upon its release - it's a haunting journey that still resonates with goth enthusiasts today. - Ava
