Review

So I've been diving into "CKay The First" and I'm obsessed with the way CKay seamlessly blends Afropop and Afrobeat sounds - it's like a fusion of fiery energy and sleek production that's totally contemporary. This 2019 EP is packed with eight tracks, including some amazing collaborations with Blaqbonez, DJ Lambo, BOJ, and Barry Jhay, which adds this whole other layer of depth to the music. The melodies are vibrant, the rhythms are infectious, and it's like you can't help but move your body to the beat. I love how CKay captures the playful spirit of Nigeria's music scene - it's like he's bottling up this carefree energy and sharing it with the world. The guest features are definitely a highlight, bringing in some fresh perspectives and styles.

What I think is really interesting about "CKay The First" is how it showcases CKay's growth as a producer and performer - you can tell he's pushing himself to try new things and experiment with his sound. While some of the tracks might feel a bit formulaic, the EP's upbeat vibe makes it super easy to listen to, and I appreciate how CKay is willing to take risks and try out new ideas. Of course, there are moments where the lyrics might feel a bit basic, but overall, I think "CKay The First" is a really promising collection that sets CKay up as a rising star in the Afrobeat scene - I'm excited to see what he does next. With this EP, CKay is hinting at even greater potential, and I'm here for it - bring on the next release. - Melody
