Carrie Underwood is an American country pop singer from Checotah, Oklahoma, who rose to fame after winning American Idol in 2005. She started releasing music immediately after her win, with her debut single “Inside Your Heaven” making her the first country artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Working primarily in country and country pop genres, Underwood has become one of the best-selling music artists in history with over 85 million records sold worldwide. She’s an 8-time Grammy winner and has earned more Billboard Music Awards (12), American Music Awards (17), and number-one singles on the Country Airplay chart (16) than any other female country artist. Her sound is similar to artists like Faith Hill, Shania Twain, and Keith Urban, with whom she’s collaborated on hits like “The Fighter”.
