Review

"Goddess: Unplugged" is like running your fingers over silk that's been stripped of its sheen, exposing the texture beneath. Celebrating the ten-year mark of her debut throwdown with "Goddess," Banks gives us a stripped-down rendition that reveals the bones of her raw emotion. Ditching the electric frills and synth-heavy blitz of the original 2014 album, this version shines a spotlight on Banks' vocal grit and honesty, serving up pure vulnerability on a silver platter.

Delve into acoustic masterpieces like "Brain" and "Beggin for Thread," and you're transported to a one-on-one jam session in some intimate, candlelit den. With every strum and raw note, the songs shed their former skin and reveal a deeper, more tender soul. "Goddess: Unplugged" is a fresh spin that invites fans, old and new, to cozy up and dive into the unfiltered world of Banks’s songwriting, wrapped in the haunting beauty of acoustic simplicity.- Ivy
